My story ...
The Sewing Room began in 2014, with Marice teaching beginner sewing classes in Inverness. This quickly evolved into more classes, involving new techniques and transferrable skills.
Louise from Rowancrafts, who has always been an integral part of The Sewing Room, a fountain of knowledge from many years running her own sewing business, came on board with dressmaking and home furnishing classes.

As the community grew in 2018, The Sewing Room became a partnership with The Wee Fabric Shop, where classes continued to develop. Meeting Helen, from Vintage buy Me, with her masterclasses in dressmaking, fitting and pattern alterations as well as Annie, from Annie and the Hooks, who took us on a yarn journey with her crochet classes as well as other tutors in different mediums. Winning awards, 3 years in a row, for the Best Independent Sewing Shop in Scotland. Tragically The Wee Fabric Shop came to an abrupt end in 2024, after a fire destroyed the building, loosing all the work created from 2014 to present, years of creations, samples and instructions gone.

Having taken a year away, The Sewing Room has returned, back to it's roots, at Highland House, where it all began. This time I'm sharing studio space with Annie and you'll be pleased to hear Helen will be returning at a later date. I'm very excited to be sewing with you once again, I've missed you all so much and can't wait to welcome you back and meet new faces.
Marice xx
